Mark Relic is a personal signal-tracking application. This policy explains what data is collected, where it goes, and how it is used. We have tried to write it plainly.
When you use Mark Relic you create signals — short observations you choose to keep — and threads — groupings of related signals over time. You also have access to an AI conversation companion.
By default, everything stays on your device in browser localStorage. This includes your signals, threads, and conversation history. We do not receive this data unless you explicitly choose to sign in and enable cloud backup (see below).
Nothing is transmitted to our servers during ordinary use of the app.
If you choose to sign in with a Google account or email magic link, your signals and threads are backed up to Firebase Firestore, a Google Cloud database, under your account. This allows you to access your data across devices.
Cloud backup is opt-in. You can continue using the app locally without signing in at any time.
The conversation companion is powered by the Anthropic Claude API. When you send a message in the Talk surface, the text of your conversation (the messages in the current session) is transmitted to Anthropic's servers to generate a response.
We do not store your conversation on our servers. Anthropic processes the conversation and returns a response. Anthropic's use of data submitted to their API is governed by their Privacy Policy.
Conversation history is stored locally in your browser and persists across sessions. You can clear it at any time by clearing your browser's local storage.
We use Firebase Analytics (Google Analytics 4) to understand how the app is being used. The following anonymous events are recorded:
No personally identifiable information is included in these events. Analytics data is processed by Google in accordance with their Privacy Policy.
If you choose to sign in, we use Firebase Authentication to manage your account. This involves Google or your email address. We do not store your password — authentication is handled entirely by Firebase.
To delete your account and all associated cloud data, contact us at support@markrelic.com. We will delete your Firestore data within 30 days.
To delete your local data, clear your browser's local storage or use your browser's site data settings.
Mark Relic is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
